Re: [VAC] Flushing water tank

Hi all - My (recently acquired) Owner's Manual for a
'75 (all models)suggests starting with bicarbonate of
soda with several gallons of water and letting it sit
for a minimum of 4 hours followed by "opening the
drain plug and running fresh water through it." If it
must be cleaned further, they suggest making a bleach
solution of 1/4 cup per gallon of water and using 1
gallon of solution per 10 gallons of tank size
(filling the tank). That would be about 1 cup per 40
gallons! Let it soak for 3 hours and drain. To get rid
of the smell and taste of the bleach, rinse with a
vinegar solution mixed at 1 QUART per 5 gallons of
water. Follow that with another drain and flush and
finally fill and USE. I haven't done this yet, but it
is on my list of get ready items in the next 2 weeks
before we leave for Canada and Alaska. ( ;>))
