Another method is Vibration. Use a LIGHT hammer and tap the cap all the
way around, it'll help break the "weld" and allow the WD-40, Liquid
Wrench, or whatever work its way into the threads. I personally like an
air hammer, but probably wouldn't use that on the pot-metal water fill
fitting.
