Re: [VAC] Major model changes

Actually the model change in 1969 was a major, axle up redesign. With the
exception of the cabinetry that changed in 1970, else everything was new. While
this change is often blamed on Beatrice Foods, they had only taken over the
company earlier that year and had little impact on the design.
In 1973, in the Excella rear bath model a gray tank was introduced. In 1974 the
rest of the rear bath line got a gray tank.
In mid 1982 a design change altered the structure of the shell from the beltline
down. The lower sheet metal of the 69-82.5 coach was different on each end. After
82.5 the front and back lower sheet metal was the same
In 1994 the recontoured three piece shell was introduced with the 34' as a wide
body. Airstream shells until this time had been built as one piece on a continuous
bow. The three piece shell has separate sides and a top section. In 1995 the whole
line went to widebody.
Since then there have been nearly annual changes with the addition of the
Safari/Bambi's and now the 34' slide out model.
