Re: [VAC] Major model changes

Hi John,

We are learning more about model changes, as time goes by, and we
discover more official documentation. For some general rules of thumb,
here goes.
1932, first flat sided trailers made by Wally and called Silver Cloud,
and Torpedo.
1935, first aluminum bodied coaches made, and called "Clippers"
1939, last coaches made before the War Dept, placed a freeze on all
sheet aluminum, for the war effort.
1947, first coaches made after the war, with a pipe frame , and they
looked like the Curtiss Wright.
1950, first ladder frame coaches, with 13 segments, and the loaf of
bread look.
1957-1958-1959 , transition to 7 segments and different windows.
1969- transition to radius windows, and bigger and heavier.
1973- first grey water tanks, and more weight, and the problems with
frame separation.
Post 1975, you're on your own.
I should also add that the Jackson Center ,Ohio plant opened in 1953,
building two models, the 21 ft Flying Cloud, and the 25 ft Cruiser.

The Los Angeles plant was first at the metro Airport, (San Fernando
Valley), then moved to Main St , in Los Angeles, then later moved to
Santa Fe Springs, then closed in the early 80's.

There are many other variations, in size , shape and style, and maybe
others will pitch in, with comments.
