Re: [VAC] 2 weeks from P-Day

Bob, and Nora,

Yes $100 per foot is the going rate for polishing. If you do it
yourself, just the cost for a buffer, electricity, the polish, the pads,
the stripper, the safety glasses, the gloves, and other incidentals,
(solvent, and scotch brite pads, etc.) plus extension cords, a ladder,
and cleaning the pads, will be over $300, depending on the length of
your coach. Now add to that, the cost of your time, about 120 to 200
hours if you stay at it. If you have a little help, and good weather,
it can be done in about 100 hours. Lots of variables, and depending on
the condition of the skin. Corrosion, and lots of oxidation (deep) will
require more than one pass. Good Luck.

Yes, get rid of those metal marker lights. Those teardrops, or
"pathfinders" are available at most auto supply stores, or RV stores.
One caveat, the new ones are made on an aluminum base, and are they
cheapo, cheapo, junk. I bought some and after putting them on, found
they all had electrical shorts. Big hassle. Finally, took them off and
threw them into the trash. They were made in Mexico and were Horrible.
I replaced them with a different style with a chrome housing and they
look fine and work much better. You can actually see them in the day
time

Before you polish, you want to remove all the markers, tail lights,
antennas, tanks and mask the ID plates , logos, and reflectors. Have
Fun.
