Is the polishing with a buffer that difficult to do by oneself?  I read
somewhere about the "grain" of the aluminum and that it was best left to a
professional, but if it isn't too hard to do, I definitely want to give it a
shot.

I like the idea of buying tools and supplies and doing it myself, as opposed
to paying someone for the service.

I've ordered some of the Rolite polish (three stages for a shine) - like
Karate Kid - wax on, wax off
