Re: [VAC] old 1959

Michael,

You've come to the right list. Many of us have rescued an old relic and restored it to active duty
again. At $550.00, you'll be hard pressed to take a loss if all you do is clean it up and take care
of the most elementary needs. All the parts you asked about are available with a little searching
and perhaps making adaptations to a similar product that's currently available in today's market.
The floor rot is easily fixable once you know how. The underbelly panels can be removed in an
afternoon and replaced in about the same amount of time (it isn't rocket science), but it does take
time and energy.

When you buy the second Airstream, you may decide to keep the first one as your own personal parts
store (cabinets, etc) or as the new silver shed in your back yard (try pricing a 27' X 8' shed
[without wheels] at Home Depot).

Go for it. Play with it. Use it to get acquainted with what's involved. But, be careful. You might
end up liking it and getting a lot of satisfaction from restoring it.
