We have a 73 Overlander 27'. Have had it a month. We are just getting into
our hot water heater. Husband said we're going to have to order some parts,
(not sure just what)   The furnace situation you've gone through, we've gone
through the same exact thing.  My husband has tried to adjust it like our
manual says, but the pilot won't stay lit.  After waiting the time it
recommends and even longer, it blows a flame out and pops real loud.  Really
a surprise!  We thought we'd just have someone at an RV place or dealer look
at for us.  Until then we'll just use the burners for a little heat to take
chill off if we have to. The electric heat works good, if it's where we can
plug in to elect.  Can you buy parts very easy for the hot water heaters?
If not I guess we could heat water for a jay bird bath. Ha!  We learning
with ours not being campers yet.  Every thing else works great, I think.
We'll  find out soon.
