Re: [VAC] How level is level?

The problem has to do with the construction of the chimney (heat source)
relative to the coolant orifice. On the old refer's they were not as closely
aligned. Operating them off level would generate a hot spot in the coolant tube
that would vapor lock the coolant. The newer refers (15 yrs or so) are built to
closer tolerances and hot spotting is no longer a problem. The old rule of thumb
was no more than a 1/2 bubble off on the level provided. It was a little 1 1/2"
round bubble level, black and white, still available at RV outlets. The newer
refer owners manual say, in effect, if you are comfortable in it it's ok. In
other words, if you don't roll out of bed the refer will work fine.
