I know this will sound like voodoo, but ... tie a bandana around the light
fixture and that will help.  Uh... needless to say, but sure the light is
off, or you may have a gigantic mantel going.  But it stops the vibration of
glass and metal and will help preserve the mantel.  I heard about it here.
Someone back me up, ok ... so everyone doesn't think I am nuts.
