Don, there is a "U" shaped bracket at each closure.  The closure is
riveted to the bracket on both sides.  When you drill out the two
rivets, the closure will be free of the bracket and you can then remove
the vent lid.  The closures are crimped to the hinge on the lid.  The
reason it is crimped is because of dissimilar metals.  The LeDeau
closure is aluminum pot cast, and the hinge is steel.  When my top blew
off, I had to have the round screw extenstion from the closure, welded
to the hinge.  Don't ask me how he did it but he did.  When you put it
back on, just replace those two rivets, on each closure.
