Hi Dick (5368),

Get two small ones and use all the 12 volt power you wish, 
plus have your battery fully charged all the time. The more 
often it is fully charged, the longer it will provide dependable 
service. Seven years is not uncommon for batteries that are
superbly maintained and kept fully charged (even when used
extensively). We know -- because we do it. 

Sometimes we're chided for these comments, but we have 
the receipts that match the batteries we have. We've been
keeping receipts for 20+ years and see the pattern. As my 
grandmother often said, "the proof of the pudding is in 
the eating."

Keep on planning to get one solar panel, but add another jar
for quarters in case you decide on a second one later.
