Re: [VAC] Solar panel placement

There are ribs between the inner and outer skin. They are a flat Z shape, hence
the name Z ribs. You can see where they are located on the top as the rivets
lines are anchored in them.
Typical solar panel installations are done using a large "well nut". A well nut
is a nut through the center of a expandable rubber T shaped insert. You drill
the hole for the size of the rubber, press it into place, with the bolt fed
through the panel mounting bracket you tighten down the bolt into the well nut
which causes it to expand into a tight, yet giving anchor. A well nut does not
require it be anchored into a rib. The most direct path to feed the wiring down
into the coach is through the refrig upper vent, so locating them near it is
the general rule.
If you use a solid mount you will subject the roof to greater stress from the
air pressure building up under the panel either by wind or air movement when
towing.
