 Normally, the battery is charged by a "Convertor", called the "UniVolt"
by Airstream. As long as it's plugged into 115VAC, of course. There's
any number of reasons that this wasn't happening on your trailer,
starting with the breaker for the UniVolt being in the 'off' position.
Of course, the UniVolt also supplies enough 12VDC so as to not run the
battery down while you're plugged in.

If it's a genuine A/S UniVolt, it has a very annoying hum when powered
up. If you don't hear that, it's not working.
