The Caravel (at least my 1967) will convert 110 AC to 12volt DC for lights/fan/water pump but does not charge the battery. This comes directly from the owners manual. Battery is charged only by tow vehicle. While plugged into elec. via ext cord,use household lamp. Clayton #16040 DC Unit
