Alex, we are talking about the same  vinyl covered material.  If ,
bleach won't do it, then you may have to settle for painting with
acrylic, or covering with fabric or paper.( dred the thought)   I've
never heard of anyone taking the vinyl off the aluminum.  You might want
to experiment with acid and a lower piece that doesn't show.   Good
