Re: [VAC] aluminum stripper?

Tom:

You're right about the baked on or powder coated paint. Hadn't thought of that.
The aircraft my sister worked on had paint that came right off with standard
aircraft stripper (she didn't know the brand). You may be out of luck, after
all. And this may also explain why the paint on my '66 Serro Scotty is still in
excellent shape after being stored outside (in Iowa!) for 34 years. I've had to
repaint the steel tongue and bumper several times, but the aluminum just gets a
wax job every year and and occasional light polish, and looks nearly new. Also
just read an account of a profesional restorer stripping a little '54 trailer
that took 8 days, and did not get down to bare aluminum. So you may be stuck
with the paint after all.
