Re: [VAC] A/C on '61 Bambi

Bill - i found two or three "low points" in the stamped metal bottom of
the ac unit & flared one end of some 1/2 " copper tubes & siliconed
them into holes drilled into the "low points" - they extend thru the
floor & the belly pan - i left the sheet metal shroud on the unit - i
had a sheet metal box built to cover the rear exhaust area and attached
an 8" od sheet metal elbow that also extends thru the floor and
bellypan and insulated the entire assembly - i also added a fresh air
intake duct that comes thru the bellypan/floor and goes against the
louvers on the side of the unit - i added the air intake duct because
i was not smart enough to figure out if i would end up with a net zero
cooling gain if i let the unit "suck in" the cooled air inside the
trailer - the only thing the ac manufacterer's people would say when i
asked them was " it must be installed per the enclosed instructions" -
i don't know how long the thing will last but at least i'll sure as
hell be one "cool cat" before it turns itself into a "crispy critter" -
anyway it's still under warranty Ray Plumlee
