Hi, Jim, Polly here, and glad you and Mary are back home safely.  Hope Mary 
is feeling better by now.
I think the important part of the frame problem is where the weight is.  
Carrying wood inside the trailer probably put the weight over the axels where 
it would do no harm.  The problem gets worse when the weight is far back of 
the axel, where it works kind of like the fat kid on the seesaw.  The further 
back he gets from the balance point, the more pressure put on the board or 
frame in the case of an Airstream.  On a washboardy road, you can set up a 
pretty extreme stress if there is a lot of weight far back of the axles.  If 
you travel with your waste tanks empty, you are probably OK, is my guess.
