After looking at over a dozen units before we got ours, we found it best
to do a tongue to bumper inspection, looking at and checking everything.
  List all the non operational and structural and cosmetic defects,
assign an estimated repair cost (it doesn't have to be exact - it will
even out), and then add the sum to the asking price.  

If the amount doesn't scare you, then it's a smart deal.  If it's too
high, then talk the seller down or move on.  There are many A/S's out
there for sale.  In other words, don't feel pressured to get the first
one you see.  We look back at some of the ones we looked at with great
relief that we did not buy them.
