Re: [VAC] Converter Questions

Charles,
Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought too much about the golf cart battery
weight, but I guess I should. It has two deep cycle marine batteries in it
now, their size is 9X13x8, don't know the weight, but I 'd say they weigh at
least 56lbs each (same as the T-105 golf cart battery) Mine has the battery
in it's original location the same as your 71 Tradewind, and the second is
just above it in the closet. someone made a heavy duty mount for it up there
and they ran what looks like battery jumper cable between the two to
parrallel them.

You mentioned charging them with a small maint charger, I have an automatic
10 amp deep cycle charger/maintainer that will drop voltage and current
down when the battery is fully charged. My question is, I imagine you would
have to design a way to disconnect the batteries from the converter while
doing this? If not, wouldn't it feed current back into the converter? I
also need to design a way to shut off the ac to the converter while still
connected to external 110v. I'll have to experiment with the breakers in
the street side closet. Mine has 4 breakers, what does yours have? does one
of yours disconnect the ac to the converter only?

Thanks again for the suggestions
Tim
