[VAC] Re: condensation/storm windows

You can easily make storm windows for your trailers which will cut down on heat loss and most of your condensation problems. Unscrew, take off one of the interior window screens and use it as a pattern to trace onto a piece of cardboard. This will be your template for cutting out a plexiglass storm window. Different template for different size windows obviously, Mark at least one screw postion on each side of the window (in center) so when you replace the screen and have your window made to can attache it thru the existing screw hole. If your trailer windows have a slight curve when you tighten the storm window at each side the pressure created when you tighten up the centered screws creates a fairly tight fit. In most cases, depending on trailer, you will need to notch out for the window pulls. In some cases, such as in the mid to late Œ70¹s models you can fabricate a piece of of wood that you fit s over the window pulls at the bottom, between the back of pul!
ls and storm window, that also holds storm window tight at bottom. This piece you be sized to creat a snug fit. To insure a seal apply some narrow foam insulation around the inside of storm window to help create a seal to the screen frame. You may still get a little leakeage but you will find a lot improvement and it reduces your heat loss significantly. Depending on your trailer you will need to custom design this plan to fit. In warm weather just take the storms off and store.
