Re: [VAC] Refrigerator Venting

A basic part of the installation is that the back of the refer is sealed from the
interior of the coach. That's what the foam gasket around the front lip is for.
Waking up dead shouldn't be a problem. One comment was made about a different
coolant. That is not the case. But there has been a major change in the chimney
design (above the gas flame). It made being level much less critical and helped
the refer draft more efficiently. A thorough reading of refer installation
instruction would suggest Airstream's installation is less than desirable with a
large open space behind the bottom of the refer. Apparently the tight chimney at
the top makes up for that sin, as the design has not changed for decades. Rarely
do refer's installed in a typical Airstream cabinet need aided air circulation.
You might try operating the refer without before spending the money. If the unit
does not draft properly and thus does not cool adequately, you will know long
before the hot days of summer. I suspect your added baffle will be sufficient.
