One more really good resource for National Forest Service campgrounds (cheap
camping) is online at http://www.gorp.com/dow. "The authors, Fred and Suzi
Dow, are surveying and publishing information on selected campgrounds in the
U.S. National Forests. This adventure began on May 30, 1996 in a 23-foot
travel trailer and will be completed in 2003. As private citizens, the
authors have undertaken this project to promote National Forests and their
camping opportunities. The authors are not employed by the Forest Service."
So far they've surveyed 94 National Forests and 1,126 campgrounds.
