 The standard UniVolt (the one with the famous 'Airstream hum') doesn't
do any switching at all. It's simply a constant-voltage output that's
set at about 14 volts and is wired directly into the 12VDC buss. If it's
not plugged in, your 12-volt devices operate from the battery, if 115VAC
is applied, the UniVolt supplies the power because it raises the system
voltage above nominal battery voltage. Hence, the battery is not
supplying any power, and is actually being charged at a low rate.
