The Univolt strikes again.  Replace it with one of the newer, multistage charge,
computer chip controlled units.  These can be left on at all times with
excellent maintenance of the batteries.  They provide a bulk charge cycle that
gives a full charge, a float charge and finally a maintenance level that will
not cook the batteries.  All automatically. Even automatic temperature
compensation is available.  An excellent 20 or 40 amp unit is the Statpower made
in Canada.  Check out http://www.statpower.com.  They have last years models
available at considerable savings over the Internet.  Locally they are sold by
Marine stores all over the country.  If you do not have a distribution/fuse
panel you may need to install one.  It is worth it just for the increase in life
for your batteries.
