[VAC] Univolt/74 Sov. 31'

I've been reading all the univolt messages with interest but I
don't understand electricity enough to really "get it".

My univolt used to be silent until lights turned on.
Noisy with 1+ bulbs on and gone silent again with 9 bulbs (2
fixtures) on.

Now it is humming like crazy with nothing on and yes, its
disturbing to get to sleep and I think that electric sound is a
very bad influence on the subconcious all night long.

Any suggestions or input here??
