RE: [SilverStreak] Split rim

Eddie,

Wow, actually it's my fault, I did not mean to open up such a can of
worms with my comments. As far as I am concerned, unless one is
fanatic about having an "Original" Silver Streak, they should replace
the original split rims with something more modern.

Thanks for your wealth of information about the rims, I have had no
personal experience with them for more than 30-35 years. I called my
tire guy, who is one of those who can get "something to fit anything".
Wade never likes to say it can't be done, but in all fairness his
first suggestion was to junk the old split rims. Some of the old
farmers around here trade with him just because he can still keep
their "OLD" "stuff" in the field. People are funny, some of these
farm types will spend more on keeping old trailers in the field, than
just replacing the entire trailer, or the axles, wheels, etc. and
moving on.

Ralph,
I'm incorrect, there indeed might be tire dealers that will work on
split
rims. Such an absolute statement is out of place and I am wrong.
