Re: [SilverStreak] Fwd: Re: Holding Tank Question

Mike, I don't think my drain pipe has 2 shut off valves. I will see if my
husband can rig something like that up for me. That would be so much easier,
but the drain hose and 5gal bucket will have to do. We had the bottom off
thinking we had a leak since the gray water backed up into the shower. But
it was just the gray water apparently.
My 83yr old mother and I restored/remodeled our 66' that we found in the
Mojave Desert. Inside was pretty much showroom. We oiled the cabinets and
my husband fixed the furnace, that was about it. I did replace window and
door gaskets and tires etc.
Mom and I decided we needed a road trip which we took from Ca. to NC. that
started in Nov. and ended in Dec. We took back roads most of the way. We
saw so many little towns with beautiful Christmas lights in the town squares.
I got bruised up pretty bad when I waited too long to do a potty stop and
when I did the PP dance to the girls room, there was some guy in it with his
drawers around his ankles humming some catchy tune. I rraaannnn back to the
trailer but it was locked. Got the door opened, threw the keys to the floor,
but was stepping on my pants leg when I tried to JUMP up on the toilet platform.
Thats when I lost my balance, among other things, bounced around the bathroom
and broke the toilet seat. I was laughing hysterically and couldn't wait to
tell mom what had just happened. Just as the door clicked shut, I remembered
the keys that I threw to the floor as I ran to the potty. I did leave the
truck keys with mom during all of this, so we could at least drive to the
locksmith. Mom and I were pretty cold at night, but then, in Alabama, I
remembered my husband had fixed the furnace. OOOOMMMMGGGGG was sleeping
nice after that aaahhhaaaa moment. And fun was had by all!!
Anyway, back to the sewer. I will use the hose and 5gal bucket for awhile.
My husband may tell me to practice using the rivet tool if I ask him to remove
the bottom again. Patti

I have a 65 22 ft Silver Streak and had a similar problem.
I'll make the assumption that we have the same set up. (Both the gray and
black water have their own valve type shut off valves that flow into a T
connector then out.)
My black tank valve would not close all the way and caused the problem you
described.
I replaced both valves and haven't had any more problems.
Before you start, and I can't emphasize this enough, rinse out your black
tank thoroughly.
I was able to replace both in about 5 hours including the time to drink all
the beer.
I bought the valves at Camping World but I would imagine they are available
at any RV Supply House.
