[VAL] window repairs

I have 68 Sovereign.  One window had been removed, fallen out when I got it 
and I have made several attempts to replace it without success.  Any 
suggestions?  There is something in the slot that I guess was an adhesive 
strip at one time and how to remove this is a problem and what to replace it 
with??  Is there a way to remove the top piece so that you don't have to 
work on it in place?
