[VAL] Bowen water heater air mixture.

    All,

Sorry to be asking such a stupid question but I haven't a clue how to
adjust the air mix for my factory original six-gallon Bowen water heater. I
know that the slotted collar with set screw is used to achieve the proper
mixture but I really don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for to get
the right mix.

Additionally, should there be a flame coming from the orifice in the
right side of the Unitrol thermostat that the air mixer slides over when the
burner is not doing its thing?

The heater cycles off and on just fine but today for the first time I
noticed that there's a small flame coming from that Unitrol brass orifice.
If I blow the blue flame out a yellow, sooty flame appears at the other end
of the tube adjacent to the pilot light.

What does the large slotted screw do at about 2:30 o'clock relative the
the large red temp knob control? Should I turn that to see if it eliminates
the orifice flame?

I just happen to have a spare Unitrol from another identical Bowen
heater but before changing the present one out with this questionable spare,
I'd like to get some thoughts.

    Any help is greatly appreciated,
