Having worked in the salt water marine environment in Oceanography, what I
have found is "Liquid Wrench" works best to dissolve the white crud
buildup of aluminum when parts are frozen. Also, try a pistol type
electric paint softener or hair drier to apply heat to the parts, being
aluminum, as long as you are not using a high temperature torch such as
propane or a welder's torch, you want to get the aluminum outer tube too
hot to touch and often it expands enough to release its grip on the inner bar.
