Re: [VAL] Thoughts on the motor home debacle

Matt and others,

As someone planning to join WBCCI when my Tradewind is roadable/livable
I wanted to make a brief comment.

With the large number of OLD Airstreams lovingly maintained by devotees
it seems that with proper advertising WBCCI should be able to continue,
and grow far beyond most of our life times. I thought my 1960 was old
until I started educating myself about Airstream and Airstream owners.

Politics shows up in every club, whatever the area of interest. I spent
a decade fighting it while I was editor-in-chief for a nonprofit
organization comprised of rare fruit enthusiasts. Board members must
rise above personality and in volunteer positions that's hard for many
to do.

Advertising: If Airstream won't let WBCCI put fliers in their showrooms
AND in new trailers then they need to be shown the benefits of doing so.
Independent dealers need to be visited and given promotional materials
as well. Local members could be asked to make contact then place
materials in new and used units on the lot and a few in the office.
There are three such dealers near me and it might take 15 minutes to do
this once a month. Dealers benefits would be another incentive for their
customer to buy the Airstream. If the free 1 year membership is still
available it needs to be vigorously rejuvenated and promoted.

I am looking forward to spending time on the road and hope to meet many
WBCCI members.

Best of growing,

Bob
