RE: [VAL] outside battery box



My '60 had an original box riveted to the front of the trailer behind the
tanks.  It was very wide and narrow so it took an old tractor battery to fit
it.  It had been coated on the inside with some type of black
paint/undercoat.  I would recommend having an aluminum box made to house the
black battery box.  You will need to have cutouts in the aluminum box for
the wires and use some sort of rubber gromet to protect the wires.  If you
have the room I think it could be done very tastefully.  I'd highly
recommend an optima or other sealed battery to negate the acid issue and
improve your battery capability.  I've been extremely happy with mine.  I've
had the Optima yellow top for 6 years now and it has never failed or faded.
