Hi Polly:
I am not aware of any source for these 1964 overhead cabinet latches
other than eBay and trailer salvage years. Look closely at the cabinet
doors which pop open in your trailer and make sure the small round pin
is centered in the shaft of each push in latch. Also look at the base
plates screwed into the cabinet to make sure their holes have not been
bent or pulled up when the round pins should firmly seat. You may have
to take them out, pound their small centers flat again, and reinstall them.
Last fall I fabricated a new base plate to hold the door's push in
catch that I bought on eBay a year ago. The plate wasn't too hard to
make, I just copied a real plate. Mine is not very pretty but it is
functional.
A former owner of my trailer scratched lines in each overhead door
knob so one can tell at a glance whether it has been twisted 90 degrees
after it catches so it is firmly held in place by the base plate. I
find those scratches very useful as a check before heading down the
road. :)
It was good to see you, Willow and Grant again at this years RMVACR!
