Hi MargK:
Here is a mnemonic way I use to remember the difference between an
inverter and a converter. This is not electrically correct in theory or
in practice, but is just a stupid phonetic device to help me remember
which is which.
An Inverter starts with an "I" so Increases voltage from 12 d.c. to
120 a.c
A Converter begins with a "C" so Contracts voltage from 120 a.c. to
12 d.c.
You may share this with your memory coach but not with your
electrician. ;)
