When I got my Streamline Motor Home, I had to remove both clear coat and  
paint.  At that time, Bill Scott was suggesting a product called Bix, and I  
used it with good results.  

It does require rubber gloves when handling, but you can hose it off of the  
surface after it has worked on the clear coat/paint.  

I got the product at Home Depot.
