[VAL] Water heater

My water heater shuts down early, both the pilot light and the main burner. 
They light up ok and the pilot lights the main burner, but after 3 or 4 minutes 
both cut off.  

I'm thinking that this is a defective thermocoupler but wondering if the pilot 
is adjusted correctly. Initially it touches the thermocoupler, when the burner 
starts up, the pilot light is pulled more horizontal.  

Any suggestions? Its a 6 gal. Atwood G6A-7.
