[VAL] Ammonia smell

When I arrived at home after towing home the '64 Overlander I bought
in Colorado, my wife and I discovered a strong smell of ammonia in
the trailer. We have looked high and low and have not been able to
find any source.

Looking through the list archives, I ran across a mention of ammonia
in refrigerators (not sure how it is used.) The PO did not tow the
trailer, just parked it at her daughter's house, so she replaced the
non-functional RV fridge with a common "dorm" fridge. Could this be
the problem?

Another possibility that occurred to me was that it could be coming
from the septic system, but AFAIK the PO used the bathroom in her
daughter's house and in any event, no one has used the trailer for
well over a year.

Any ideas out there for what I could look for?

TIA for any help!
Warren
