Hello Daisy,

I disagree. I just finished a go-around with an insurance company. My 
son was run in to by a red-light-runner, and his insurance company 
(Unitrin) claimed our car was worth $500, and that was all they were 
going to pay. They were intractable -- as you said, that is their job. 
But small claims court changed their mind. The judgment was $3028.19. 
They paid up. They CAN be beat, if you are well prepared and willing to 
fight.
