Re: [VAL] Battery/charger problems

Dick,

You can do a few preliminary tests and post back to
the list.
One of the first things woul dbe to install
thebattery, and see if you get lights.
Then, with the trailer unplugged, read the battery
voltage.
Now plug the trailer in 120V and read the battery
voltage again.
Post results, so we can see what you have to work
with.
You should see an incrrease of voltage with teh
trailer plugged in, as opposed to being unplugged.
The Univolt has a terminal that tells where the charge
line from the vehicle comes in. You can check this
charge line by disconnecting it, pluggin in your tow
vehicle, and then testing voltage on it against
ground. The voltage should be close to the tow
vehicle's battery voltage. You might also check all
the fuses in teh vicinity of the Univolt, make sure
there is not any corrosion present, or blown fuses.
If you do find blown fuses, you must diagnose the
reason for the blown fuse first before proceeding.
Please use great care - 12V with high current
capability can cause fires.
