RE: [VAL] RE: The Little Prince - Airstream's smallest & one & only.

To all VAC members, and Airstream enthusiasts,

Earlier I wrote that Der Klein Prinz is "not the smallest ever made,
but is tied for that spot with the 1947 Wee Wind.
Both are very similar in dimensions." Let me clarify what I meant by
that. Basically, I didn't want to commit to saying The Little Prince
was the smallest when I don't know for certain. It probably is, but
then we run the risk of arguing over semantics. Fred Coldwell's
Vintage Advantage article on Ruby, a 1948 Wee Wind, shows it as a 16
foot trailer. So, from just that aspect it is bigger than Der Klein
Prinz (13 feet). But Ruby apparently weighs significantly less, and
although I've been in Ruby I don't know her other dimensions. So, at
this point it's hard to say which has the least floor space, or which
has the smallest volume. Without knowing the interior width, height
and length of both it would be just a guess. To further complicate the
calculations a Wee Wind appears to have greater curvature at both its
front and rear. How does that affect the overall volume? That kind of
math is beyond me. My guess is that The Little Prince is the smallest
Airstream ever made, but again it's just a guess.
