Dick, That is what my DMV told me also. Although they did my trailer as a VIN search. If they had found a registered owner I would have been required to go the certified letter/replacement title route also. Luckily, there wasn't anyone listed. So, all I needed to do was go pay $100 for a title bond insurance policy. Steve
