[VAL] Re: subfloor hardener (and cleats)

I've had no trouble getting things to adhere to the Minwax treated 
plywood. BTW, I applied this stuff years ago to the exposed plywood 
floor of a utility trailer I own, subject to much rougher treatment and 
more frequent wettings. It's held up well.

Another thought for patching in plywood: cleats. take a scrap of 
plywood, say 4" wide. Glue and screw 2" of it to the bottom side of the 
remaining good plywood by pre-drilling holes and running the screws in 
from the top. Now you have a 2" lip to rest the new plywood on. I used 
this technique on our Airstream- learned during 20 years as a 
carpenter- and it's worked well for me. Please don't use drywall 
screws. They are too brittle for this kind of work. Use epoxy coated 
deck screws for strength and rust resistance.
