[VAL] the pump

  Ann,
You may have a air pump system. See if your tank is cylinder shaped and
made of steel. If so and there is a 1/4 copper tube coming from the pump
to the tank then you have the old fashion compressed air system. You are
suppose to oil those every year, if you put a couple of drops of oil in
the small cap on top of the compressor cylinder that should quiet it down
a little. I took mine out because the tank had a hole rusted in it, and a
nylon tank is possible to see how much water you have so you don't start a
shower you can't finish.
If it is not a air pressure system just keep asking the group on how to
proceed. There are plenty of quality people out there that are very helpful
and have been in just about any situation you may come across.
