Seems to me that someone discovered that the ceramic part was available
somewhere. However I do not remember any specifics.

Don't be hesitant to take such an "old" trailer anywhere. Our '60 is going
from Ohio to Colorado at the end of the month and next summer we hope to go
from Ohio to Alaska. My advise is to get to know your trailer, fix the minor
things before they become major, and by all means don't be afraid, get out
and enjoy it!
