Re: [VAL] WBCCI Number Removal

Greetings Barb!

Welcome to the world of Airstreaming and the WBCCI!

Concentrated heat is among the most effective methods of
removing the old numbers and badge. My preference is to use
a regular heat gun with a broad (about 2") wide-blunt-tip
concentrator -- heat the material until it just begins to
bubble and then gently push the material away with a plastic
putty knife. Since the numbers typically need replacement
every three to five years, the investment in a decent
quality heat gun isn't excessive.

Another method that several of my acquaintances use is to
thoroughly saturate a terry cloth towl and place it over the
numbers/badge then apply a regular iron (the type used for
ironing clothes) and press until the steam/heat combination
loosesns the adhesive holding the numbers/badge to the coach
and then gently push away the material with a plastic
scraper.

Good luck with your coach!

P.S.: I once lived North of Wichita in Osborne County, KS,
(to be more specific, Natoma, KS) and suspect that the
Kansas summer sun may have very thoroughly baked the numbers
onto your coach - - heat in combination with gentle pressure
on a plastic scraper should help to dislodge the old
material.
