The 400 became the standard engine during 1977.  It was the only engine 
offered in California in 1978 and maybe in 1977 and the only engine in 
1979.  Therefore, I have a non California 1977 with the 460 4V.  There 
is no tow package for the Lincoln, according to the owners manual, but 
they recommend a 3.0 rear axle, I have the 2.75 and I added a 
transmission cooler.
