Re: [VAL] Aftermarket "chips" for trucks

Thanks for the recomendation.

I posted my question there, and received the following replies:

"Usually, they cost the same as ones for diesel engines, but put out
nowhere near the power. Superchips makes a gas and diesel tuner. The
diesel is for 150HP, the gasser is about 20 HP and some vehicles you
need to use premium octane fuel $$$. Your better off with a supercharger
or something along those lines, Chips for gas engines are usually a
joke. $0.02.."

"With a gas engine, airflow is the name of the game for increasing
power. Intake through to exhaust. Chips typically change timing which
will require you to run premium fuel without the big power increase the
diesels see. If you want to discuss this more, pm me. I've added
approximately 35 hp to my V10 with only air management and will add
another 25 when I install headers."

So,,,, It looks like it isnt worth the effort/cost to upgrade chips in a
gas engine.
