Re: [VAL] Cleaning the interior

There are multiple causes depending upon the model year of
the coach. What is being referred to when the Future Floor
Wax treatment is inovolved are those coaches from sometime
in the mid-1960s forward that have vinyl-clad aluminum for
the interior wall surfaces (this includes all of the Argosy
trailer line as well). As this cladding ages, its surface
becomes sticky. There are two theories about the origin - -
one is that it is the outgassing of the petrochemicals used
in the production of the vinyl that causes the stickiness,
while the second is that the stickiness is the result of the
adhesives used to attach the vinyl to the aluminum rising to
the surface.

On the older coaches, with Zolatone painted walls,
stickiness is usually the result of cooking vapors or
chemicals from tobacco smoke.
